By now it should be common knowledge that I've been live streaming gaming content on Twitch, Youtube and Facebook. This has been such an adventure for me. An adventure that I didn't know if I would be able to make something of or not. I still don't know if I can, but I'm trying and that's alright, you know?
I know a lot of people who are doing this use the money to pay their bills, which is totally cool. While I may not be there yet, I do earn a little bit and as that money is not part of my monthly budget, I had been saving it and using it on upgrades for a better viewing experience.
I purchased a prebuilt PC from Best Buy on Black Friday. That was the biggest purchase. I saved all my tips, bits and payouts from the moment I got my first payment from Twitch. I saved them up for that, and I just purchased some new ram for said PC with my most recent payout. While I know this PC isn't the best, what I was working with before was just too underpowered for what I was trying to do with it so I really needed to get something that would produce what people are accustomed to seeing on stream.
The last thing I did with the remainder of the money I have earned streaming, was that I paid a close friend who has been doing graphic work, to make up an intro that I'd been visualizing. With that intro I made a new channel trailer that can be seen on twitch and facebook.
I have spent the better part of a year trying this "streaming" thing out, and you know what? It's alright, I'm having fun, making new friends and learning new things! I wouldn't call myself and artist but I have learned a lot about graphics and video editing. I'm learning about branding and marketing too. Many skills I have learned along the way are skills that can and probably will help me with so many other adventures, should I choose those paths.
I'm going to keep at it and see where it takes me :-)
