Midland Parking Lot Murder

Okay, so this is the town that I live in. This happened here. Its been nonstop on my newsfeed and in my brain.
I was at Walmart that day. I don't go to Walmart often, because it's a shit-show, especially on the weekend (and it was a long weekend to boot). My daughter already had a breakdown that day and I wasn't going to let her have another one. So off to Wally World I went.
Getting into the lot was insane. Cars everywhere, backed up pretty much to the doors of the store. I was driving Jane for one of the first test drives of the season. I don't have power steering in that car. Some lady was "directing traffic" at the one corner of the lot, but by the time I saw her it was too late for me to make a sharp turn with cars everywhere and lack of power steering. Not that I was going very fast as the parking lot was packed and I was basically in parade gear. I avoided her as she yelled at me "someone's been hit" and ended up turning around due to traffic to try a different lane to find parking. She had the audacity to holler "I told you so" at me as I went by her the second time.
I used quotations there because she was doing absolutely nothing to help the situation there. Firstly, if someone had been injured by doing the same damn thing, then perhaps it's not a good idea to be "directing traffic", I would think that would have been a pretty clear judgement call. Secondly, she was nowhere near the location of the incident and was not directing traffic to avoid it. It was completely pointless and pretty stupid on her part, she's lucky to have her life.

The Ole Man said to me "who the hell is she?" and I"m all like "I know right?!" because unfortunately people think it's okay to pretend to be police. I know, I know, many people want to place blame on the poor design of the lot with only one entrance/exit. Although I want to agree with them, that's really no excuse to kill someone over. Honestly, there really is no excuse unless your life is in immediate danger and it's self defence.

Nobody want's to talk badly about a deceased person. The fact of the matter is, had he minded his own business and stayed in his vehicle, he'd be alive today. Instead he got out and decided to pretend to be a person of the law knowing full well people were angry and hot and wanted to get the hell out of there. Then to take it upon himself to stand in front of a vehicle (I did see a photo of him doing this) and hearing that he was up on top of someone's vehicle... What do you think is going to happen? Not death, clearly, but still, the guy was an idiot for thinking there would be no repercussions to getting on someone's vehicle.
It's pretty simple. If you're not a person of the law, who do you think is actually going to listen to you? You have no authority over anyone. That's like walking down the street and up to some random stranger and not allowing them to walk, standing in front of them. What are they going to do? They're going to fight to continue to do walking because you should mind your own business. You can't stop someone from walking, or driving someplace. I mean, seriously if I was faced up against a 3000lb vehicle, I don't think I would act like The Man Of Steel, because I'm not.

Nobody's going to charge a dead guy, so all the blame will lay on the man who "ran him over". I suppose we'll see what happens in court, and if any witnesses do come forward with any evidence, I hope the truth comes out about what happened and people can understand the fault likely lays on both men's shoulders, not just one.

I'm not trying to blame the victim here, because he certainly was the victim, I'm not arguing that. My issue is that he was just as much a part of the problem to begin with. It's like someone picking a fight with another someone, who everyone has knowledge of having a weapon. Would you start a fight with someone who's got a weapon, aimed at you?

Oh, Hai There

Oops... wrote this back in April...

The snow has been slowly melting, revealing the earth and all it's wonders. There's been a few days that have been a decent temperature, which most were taken advantage of. I got the motor mount out of the car,

Last Thursday was one of the latter days, not taken advantage of. I had to see Le Dentist. And get the big ole teeth pulled.

I woke up to a child saying "mommy, there's someone knocking at the door". Jumping out of my bed and quickly throwing on clothes, realizing I had set the alarm for 6:30 PM instead of AM, I rushed out the door.

After putting a little pill under my tongue, I announced that I felt drunk and have promptly forgot everything from there on out. I vaguely remember about 9:30 trying to use my phone to respond to a child that should not have been trying to ask me anything. Then I woke up again around 1pm.

Surprisingly the post op pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be. After the first day I stopped taking the pain pills prescribed that made me drowsy and switched to ibuprofen.Which I was later told I should have been taking acetaminophen but what's done is done.

After going to the post-op appointment, they did some other stuff and said something about a dry socket. That was probably worse than the pain, it tasted like cinnamon and burned a little. Pretty gross actually, but it took the pain away almost instantly.

One of the really shitty things about getting teeth pulled is the gigantic holes left in your gums for ALL OF THE FOOD to get stuck in! There's also now sensitivity of the teeth that were beside the ones that got pulled.

Fun times. Glad that's over with.

A Discovery

My ex husband was a "hunter". I say that in quotations because he always said he liked to hunt, and talked about having guns handed down from his grandfather, but didn't actually do a lot of hunting.

The Boyfriend started out kind of the same way. It did seem that in his youth he did more hunting, and just didn't have quite as much time for it anymore. He also had another big hobby to fill a lot of his time. The hobby that just so happened to bring us together. The reason we met.

Now that he doesn't have his car anymore, it seems things have shifted. He is now full-out hunter. I think it's a bit overboard. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the new hunting craze coming to life with gigantic amounts of new Reality TV shows...

My whole life, I have never thought of hunting as "cool" or something I ever wanted to do. I think guns are dangerous and that way too many people have them, that shouldn't. This craze is beyond me. I did, live on a farm, and did know the life and death of many animals.

The other day I watched a video of a child, perhaps of 10 years old, and her father investigating a deer they shot. This child was literally vibrating with excitement. It then dawned on me, why all these years I have felt the way I do about hunting. The hunters close to me have disclosed that they take joy in hunting.

This child was so excited about killing something. The fact that they had shot and killed this deer.

Now, just wait a minute you may say. Killing is the natural thing we humans have done for hundreds of years. You would be completely right. I'm not saying that humans shouldn't kill things. I'm not against the death of animals for the sake of food, this is what we have done for hundreds of thousands of years to survive. It happens not only with our species but many, many others.

My problem is the fact that people take joy in killing. I don't think I will ever get that concept. I think that killing something for the sake of fun is disgusting and sadistic. I think now, that most people, hunt as a sport. I doubt that the majority of hunters are actually hunting for good reasons. I think that farmers have good reason to hunt the creatures that kill their livestock, and I think that there are a very few others that hunt solely to help feed their family (at least in the area I live in).

So there it is, my discovery of why all these years I have never liked hunting. One video made me realize this, after all this time. I'm pretty sure I've finally figured it out.
