This summer our family was able to go to two concerts. Unfortunately not all together, but still was fun.

For the first show, I entered a facebook contest to win three tickets to see Walk Off The Earth. You're supposed to tag two friends, so I tagged my friend Nikki and when she saw it, she also entered to win and ended up winning the tickets! So she took me and another friend and we had such a blast!

I would have taken the kids if I had won the tickets. It was a great show and we got to meet the band and I got my CD signed as well.

Next up was Taylor Swift. I had entered a contest previously to win tickets and I knew my kids really wanted to see her because they'd been trying to win tickets earlier in the year.

So the radio station called and kind of got me out of bed. I was a bit out of it and didn't know how to respond so I sounded pretty goofy on air. I don't have a single clue on how to upload the audio clip I asked the radio station for, so I guess that's out lol you either heard it on air or you didn't.

The end result was that I had actually won only two tickets to see Taylor Swift in Toronto. So I got online and got some friends and we started writing Taylor Swift on Facebook and Twitter and tried to get our hands on one more ticket in so many ways. I couldn't really afford a ticket at that point most everything was either sold out or very expensive and nowhere had tickets anywhere near where our tickets were going to be.

Eventually someone reached out to me and said that they were taking their daughter (which knew my kids) and that they could watch over mine while at the concert. As our only option, I took her up on it. The Rogers Center employee that helped me out was amazing. He took me and the girls down to where we needed to be to meet the other mom, then he escorted me back out.

So I now had a couple of hours to waste in downtown Toronto. So The Old Man and I walked around and enjoyed Ontario's capital.

Although it was hectic to begin with, getting down there and getting the girls inside, all in all it was a good night.

Ramblings

I went and pre-ordered the new Call Of Duty game, Advanced Warfare. Super duper expensive edition. Season's pass and all the works, which I'm seriously going to have to buy a USB to put all this shit on. Apparently there's no merch this time around. WTF? That's balls. We like collectable shit dude.

I also went next door to the shoe store and saw some super comfy shoes on sale... then felt bad if I only bought myself some, and bought the kids some too.

So, you know, the minute you spend money you really should have put in savings or something... something horrible happens that you need money for? Yeah, it happens to me. A lot. I do these things, then BAM out of nowhere, I fuck my car up. Yet again. Now I get to rip apart my entire front end to fix it. Meanwhile driving the beater, and kind of afraid how long that's going to last.

Winter is coming. 'Tis the season of depression. FML. It's far too soon for the winter we had last year. I seriously hope it doesn't snow before December again. It's very convenient that popular video games come out in November because people like me spend less time outside and more time inside due to the weather.

The one thing I like about this time of year though, is Halloween. It's fun, and an excuse to get together with friends. I always like those excuses. I have no clue what my costume will be this year... at this rate I should just put on a goddamn set of coveralls and call myself a damn mechanic with all the work I've been doing.

The Smell of Snomobiles

It's the obligatory post-christmas pre-new year's post.

I don't have a whole lot to say, I thought the other day about writing but I can't remember a goddamn lick of it so here's to wingin' it.

Christmas this year was wonderful. I lavished gifts upon my family and it was also returned. I had a great time, even though we do a lot of switching around and traveling for the holidays, it all turned out okay. I got to spend some time with Gramma and my sister, who brought her boyfriend along for the night. He was a delight to meet, and spend time with. I'm really glad they are happy together, because what makes her happy, makes me happy! No complaints from this side of the family about him, we all enjoyed his company.

I'm very happy that for once, I didn't have to stress over christmas shopping. I started early enough, and made enough money that I didn't have to worry. I bought what I wanted for people, and I have no idea what I spent in total. I have never actually worked out what I have spent on previous christmas shopping either, but I most always worried about the money.

I tried to make new years plans with my sister, but that was a bust. It's just too close and I waited too long to make plans. I guess I was hoping that something cool would just come up, or I was depending on my friends to invite us along with their plans. Well nothing came up, and I guess our friends either aren't doing anything, or don't want us to accompany them.

I am kind of bummed about this. I have no plans to ring in the new year, and it is just tomorrow.

You'd think I have much more important things to worry about though. My temporary plates are going to run out on The Beater, and I am awaiting an emissions test to get permanent plates on it. This part scares me as I have no idea if it's going to pass or not, which could leave me screwed. I'm just trying to take things one step at a time, and I think we're good for a couple of days, so I'll just have to wait and see.

The Boyfriend and kids spent the afternoon the other day building a fort. Although it's not 'done', it's pretty impressive.

Before I go, I just HAVE to share some loot I got boxing week shopping.

I also got a new pair of sweat pants, some shopping at La Senza (thanks Gramma), and a mix of other things along with the new wolf skin on COD with my xbox gift card (thanks Meg).

This 'N That

I'm feeling better. I still have a cough and congestion but nowhere near as bad as it was.

The kid's swelling has gone down. Did I mention it was on her face?!?! I don't think she had a lot of actual poison ivy on her face but her body reacted with the swelling of her face. That's how it was when I was a kid. I couldn't believe she is just like me. I remember having it as a kid and barely being able to open my eyes. She had a spot on her jawline, the rest was just swelling really. Then she had some spots on her neck and chest area as well as her right hand which has been the last bit to go away.

I'm thankful we are on the mend.

This past weekend, The Boyfriend and I went and picked up my new winter car. After spending a couple of hours getting it running, we started the trek home. It was a long ride, and there is no radio in it. Makes for a very boring ride. I was actually having a hard time staying alert.The car also has cruise control, so that was a novelty I've never had in a car.

With some luck, in a week I will have it on the road and Jane will be away for the winter.
