Daydreaming (Part 3)
So I've been challenged with the question of "what" this idea is really... Is it a campground? You want to own property with other people?
I figure we can rent out space, AirBNB style, so in a way it might be considered different things to different people. Cute ass little cabins on a river, secluded from society just enough to not have the light pollution but close enough to run to get something when needed.
We could hold classes on gardening or other useful skills to share the knowledge with people and earn a little extra. There are so many opportunities!
Thinking about the possibilities of owning something with multiple other people is a little scary. You need people you can trust. First I thought you buy it together but then I started thinking that one person could buy it and rent to the others. THEN I thought that well, it could be severed into neat little rectangles so people actually get to OWN their own shit. With an agreement that we work the land together but you own this actual chunk.
This is all because we are all broke-asses and the market prices have just gone through the fucking roof lately that owning anything seems so fucking unattainable. Buying land is so much cheaper, and everyone doesn't have to move in right away, some people maybe want to build a cottage first and not move for another 10 or 20 years. The flexibility is there. That way you have the people you want, the space you want and not some stranger. When it comes time to sell someone's part in the land the agreement must be that it's sold to another like-minded individual or something.

My First CJ

For over a year now our scouts have been fundraising for a week long Canadian Jamboree that is held every 4 years in different locations across Canada. This year was held at Camp Nedooea, Nova Scotia. This was an excellent opportunity for our group (many of us anyawy) to visit the east coast of Canada for the first time. We planned a 15 day adventure for our group to visit New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, with 7 of those days at the Jamboree.
As a Rover Advisor, I went to camp as an Offer Of Service and worked with the Transportation team. The Minions went in two separate patrol units of our scout troop. We left on the Monday before the Jamboree and flew into Fredericton, NB. We rented 4 vans for the 26 of us to tour around. The OOS left the group and drove to camp on the Thursday before camp.
I began my work detail on Friday and helped over 2000 scouts and scouters arrive at camp via, plane, train or automobile. On Saturday the remaining 3000 (approx) people arrived at camp. We had many long days and nights trying to get everyone to their subcamp (close to 1000 people in each of the 7 subcamps) as best we could and as safely as possible.
Programming for troops began Sunday afternoon and included many fun things. I saw/heard of archery, mud pit, drones, giant bubble balls, bmx course and many things I can't remember but every kid I saw seemed to be having an adventure. Unfortunately it rained pretty good on the Friday and into Saturday morning so the rest of the week the campsites were pure mud.
On Wednesday of the Jamboree I had my day off and a couple of friends I met at camp and I went to Halifax. We had a nice meal, visited the harbour and boats, and the Citadel. Another long day of walking around on tired feet but lots of fun nonetheless. The time difference is only one hour, but I'll tell you something. When your body clock is used to getting up a certain time, it is very hard to change that, especially when its 5am Ontario time that you're trying to change it to!
I feel as though I now have a new addiction. I want to go to more camps, more jamborees and overall more travelling our beautiful country. I had such an amazing time not only in the maritimes but at camp, I miss all the people I met/spent time with. I miss the great times we had with the people I worked with. I miss the ocean. It calls to me. I can't wait for our next adventure!
I also felt like I came home with new eyes. I just spent 15 days living out of a backpack. I spent 9 of those days sleeping in a tent. I now see all this junk in my home that I just don't need. I want to clean out so much stuff right now it's insane.

McCrea Lake Camping
I had been to McCrea once before. Its really nice up there. I want to go again, if it wasn't so damn cold.
We all booked time off work, and set out on the Thursday with two canoes, two kids, a dog and all our gear.

| Our View |
We tried our hand at fishing, with a little luck on our side we had fish with our Sunday lunch.
We made an inukshuk(sp?) in the middle of the lake where there was a raised bit. The birds really liked it.
We saw a loon couple and their baby, they were very protective.
We were very lucky that it was one of the only weekends I was off that it was really nice out. Overall I think we all had a grand time and I really can't wait to do it again.

There She Goes
I have many friends, and I'm blessed with a few close ones I hold dear to my heart. This is not meant to hurt any one of them, but just to say my feelings on this situation.
One of my closest friends has decided to move to another province. She has her reasons, and there's some pretty good ones. I'm happy and excited for her, for her future, near and far. I hope this is a step she needs to do what she feels is right, and I stand behind her, always. I will be so happy the day she tells me the great news this journey will bring her.
But fuck, am I going to miss her. It really is hard to find good friends these days. Ones that never would do anything to intentionally hurt you and are there for you every time they possibly can be. Ones that you would do anything for in return. Ones you don't count the favours, because you know that it doesn't matter because you do things for each other so often, so often it doesn't feel like a favour anymore. We do these things for each other because we want to.
She is probably my "newest" friend, since she only moved to my small little town two years ago, but it felt right. It felt like we'd known each other forever. We got along pretty well, which was surprising because we are very much alike in the way we think and act. Even though on the outside, how we wear clothes, makeup etc, we are so very opposite. She would be considered more of a girly girl, whereas I would be considered more of a tomboy.
Yet, we got along well. Mostly well, anyway. Well enough this hurts.
Last night we went out to the city of Barrie, kind of spontaneously, and I'm glad we did. There's always going to be things that stick out in your mind. Like this photo we took this morning, the evidence of our bar hopping experience. Her last night out here with me. Our last major experience together, for a while at least.

I'm going to miss calling her up to go on a random road trip sometimes over 600km round trip. I'm going to miss spontaneous breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and dinners of appetizers only. I'm going to miss staying up late into the night laughing at things online together, or just texting until we're both exhausted.
I'm going to miss her.

Thoughts On Dating
As a 30 year old woman, I find dating weird. I don't understand why there has to be a label on this. I mean, can't you just hang out with someone to get to know them? Once you add the big label on it, it seems much more nerve-wracking and now you're expected to act a certain way. It's especially scary to think of going on a date with someone you don't know at all. It's much nicer to just hang out with someone for a while first, with no stress and no labels.
I recently got out of what some of my friends might call a bad relationship. I might say that it was good, and turned bad. It especially turned bad when I found out the person I was in love with, was in love with someone else, and had been seeing the someone else for quite some time. I had seen the signs, I had called them on it, they just kept weaving their web of lies and I kept believing them. You wanna see this chick turn into complete psycho? Let her find out the years of lies you've been telling her. HA!
Enough of that now, it's old news.
I'm not sure I'm "ready" for the dating thing yet. I really don't know, but I think I will know, when the time comes. I do, however, hate how everyone and their brother seem to think that a newly single female is open season within weeks of a traumatic ending of a 5 year relationship. Hell, even a month seems not enough time. Maybe it is that easy for some people to get over something like that.
I'm not some people.
I've been thinking though, given that everyone is different and people may need different amounts of time to get over things like this. There should be some sort of code of conduct, or rule list for people. So that guys and girls alike, can tell when someone is ready to start dating again. It's really hard for someone to just walk around saying "Hey, I'm available, I'm ready to date now!"
That being said, I have found it weird when people I consider friends, and were friends with "us", want to date me. I think that under normal circumstances, there's got to be some sort of line, somewhere between friend and acquaintance, where I might be comfortable trying to date (still kinda don’t like that word). Mostly, people I consider friends, have been friends so long, that I really don't think it's a good idea. Then, once they've shown interest, it becomes kind of weird and awkward.
Onward! Get to the damn point already!
So here are some signs someone might be ready to date:*
1. They stop continually posting relationship meme's on facebook about cheaters/liars or past relationship shit.
2. If they are a regular poster on social media and suddenly stopped, they are probably too occupied in their head and healing to bother. When they start posting regularly again.
3. You notice they are being socially active again, when there had been an absence.
4. When they stop talking about their ex.
5. Their current favourite songs have nothing to do with breakups, ex's or anything like that.
6. They will likely act more confident, less self-conscious and be in better spirits than they have been while they were healing.
7. (This one may just be me, but) When they don't act angry a lot of the time.
A break up is hard. I'm not sure about men, but as a woman, I certainly can relate to a chunk of meat, when I get hit on by people I know already. It feels as though they were just waiting for the moment you were single, regardless of your feelings.
Meh. Food for thought, I guess.
*Even using these signs that a person might (I said might) be ready to date again, they may still not be ready. It might be good practice to play it by ear, and wait a bit longer even, just in case.

I May Be Stupid... but...
Heh.
About that... Well, it wasn't boring, that's for sure. The weekend started off kind of shitty when I woke up to a pile of snow Friday morning. My landlords still have my snowblower for the "tuning up" thing I begged them to do all summer. So I had to actually shovel my driveway. That kind of sucked. And started my day later than planned.

| The sight out my front window on Friday morning |
I proceed to get some work gloves from the trunk to open the rad cap and let any pressure out slowly. Seems not so bad, so I continue to open the cap. Bad news, I'm pretty sure I got a million degree burns on my chest and face as well as drinking the shit. Whoever said that animals like antifreeze because it's sweet is full of fucking shit. That shit tastes disgusting.
So picture this: I am beside my car coughing and spitting and gasping and pouring water in my mouth and it going absolutely everywhere thinking I'm about to die from drinking this shit.
Throw power steering belt in car. Pour equal amounts of water and poison into the car. Slam hood in anger. Get in car, continue driving. Miss the deadline for getting the dog to my sisters for dog sitting. Have to wait 2.5 hours for the next chance.
Good thing I had shitty traffic and car troubles and only actually had to wait a half an hour.
Fortunately that's about all the events for the trip down to Windsor.
Oh, but wait. That's not all! THERE'S MORE.
On the way home we made several stops for visiting. When leaving the last stop, about an hour from home, my battery light comes on. FUCKING GREAT. Half an hour of driving the radio starts fucking off. It took me probably close to 5 minutes, pulled over, to figure out how to turn the damn thing off. Drive another 10 minutes, gauges fuck off too. Now is when I know I'm fucked. The lights start to dim, I can barely see. I get about 10km from town and she dies.
FUCK MY LIFE. We JUST want to get HOME.
Luckily a friend is not far and comes to the rescue. Charge the battery off his car for a bit, then booked 'er home. Barely made it, and had a cop double take me a couple blocks from the house. Likely because I had barely any lights left. I wasn't stopping for anything. He wanted me, he could follow me home, I was almost there! Luckily that was not an added hassle to my weekend.
Although, I did pass an interesting set-up for radaring I'd never seen before. I saw something on the bridge ahead, getting closer and closer, trying to figure out what it is. Close enough to getting a ticket lol when I realize it's a cop standing on the bridge above the 401 using a radar gun. Half a click down the road, two more cops have people pulled over.
Otherwise, it was a decent, relaxing weekend. Even with the two hour nap I took Saturday that fucked me for going to bed that night.

Ramblings
I also went next door to the shoe store and saw some super comfy shoes on sale... then felt bad if I only bought myself some, and bought the kids some too.

Winter is coming. 'Tis the season of depression. FML. It's far too soon for the winter we had last year. I seriously hope it doesn't snow before December again. It's very convenient that popular video games come out in November because people like me spend less time outside and more time inside due to the weather.
The one thing I like about this time of year though, is Halloween. It's fun, and an excuse to get together with friends. I always like those excuses. I have no clue what my costume will be this year... at this rate I should just put on a goddamn set of coveralls and call myself a damn mechanic with all the work I've been doing.
That is all.
For now.

Edgefest - Short and Sweet
I planned to stay at a friends house the night before and hung out with her beforehand. It was calling for rain the entire day, but luck was on my side and I didn't have to use the poncho I purchased.
Finally arriving to the place and after circling around for what seemed like 5 hours (read: 20 minutes), I finally just chose a parking spot which happened to be almost beside my friend I was looking for.

Progress Report
The unfortunate part is that I've been feeling very unproductively busy. The kids were at their father's for a week and I really felt like I didn't get anything done. I told my new work that I could work anything they wanted me to that week. A guy quit, and a guy was on vacation, so I was picking up hours. I worked my sweet ass off.
On top of that, I had some welding work to do. Most of which did not get done.
A couple of weeks ago I pulled out the clarion 7" fold out screen deck out of my car because the touch screen was no longer working and I couldn't deal with it anymore. I had a few friends up and we tried putting in another deck that was lying around here, which ended up not working. Another friend loaned me another one until I can afford a new one, and I wired it up myself. Which I decided I never want to do again.
Last weekend some friends helped me put the newly rebuilt rack in my car and the door speakers.
I had some unfortunate luck to have my car not start on Thursday night and had to get a tow home. Luckily it was only a few blocks, but I was without the car for almost 24 hours. After troubleshooting (wrongly) the car just started again. I'm pinning it down to wiring. Which is great.
The parts that really piss me off is that it was booked in to get the alignment on Friday, which I had to move to Monday. Also, I thought I could possibly get the pigtail to the fuel pump from work and what is listed looks absolutely nothing like what I need.
The next most shitty thing is that yesterday I ended feeling very unaccomplished because everything I tackled was a waste. The pigtail was not what I needed. I had ordered in a cam sensor in and it was the wrong one as well. I made two trips up to work, and had nothing to show for it. Yesterday felt like a complete waste.
So it was good that today was not. Although I wasted the first half of the day, and didn't even get to sleep in, I got the hitch fixed (hopefully) and the bumper sanded with a coat of the plasti-shit.
And now. It's late, and I have to work in the morning, after I drop my car off. Hopefully it's not too much of a whore, and it would be nice if it didn't need any work before the alignment.
One can hope.

Oh... Hello there.
Life gets busy and we ignore the simple things. Such as writing.
With Christmas just around the corner, I've been working a lot. Also trying to spend time with family and keeping up with friends.
The clan life is good, we're not huge and we all get along very well. A good group if I ever met one. I met up with one of them and we got some Christmas shopping done.
I'm really happy with the amount of work lately. I've been getting paid well and that's really helpful this time of year.
I finally was able to dye my hair, with help from a friend. Still have the streaks to do though.
We finally got our tree last night, so I'm very happy about that. Now to find the time to decorate it!
Well there's an update for you. Also if you haven't already liked my page on facebook, its called Cyreks.
