Daydreaming (part 2)

I've been dreaming of the actuality of how things would work. I decided to write it down.
Here's Part 1.

There's going to need to be a shop. One fairly large for welding things and woodworking things and a place for all the making everyone wants to do.

The kitchen will also be for dining and gatherings. (The Gathering Hall?) Sometimes we could work together and cook dinner for everyone, maybe a once a week thing. If it becomes a success and we have the people for it, we can have sign ups for the different jobs and cook more than that, even do meal prepping for those who choose to work outside jobs.

Maybe there should be some sort of points system. Because everyone has their strengths so, someone who's building something like a home would get lots of points so they can exchange them for cooking duties or something.

There's a 16 acre lot I've been eyeing up. I just finally found it online and its a bit out of reach financially. I did find an 8.5 acre lot that is way more affordable not too far from the first one, and another 8.2 acre lot on a main highway type road even better priced.

So the ideal lot would be something with easy access to the electricity/sewer/water etc. The first one was on municipal sewage so would be easier for the rest than some place out in the country. It's like somehow finding the happy place between in "town" and not.

Daydreaming (part 1)

I've been dreaming of the actuality of how things would work. I decided to write it down.

We will have 10 acres of mostly treed land. Hopefully there will be a river nearby or through the property for fishing. There will need to be internet, the bloggers and the youtubers will need it too, so we won't be too far out of town.

We will have gardens, so many gardens. With all sorts of vegetables. For eating fresh or canning and preserving. We'll sell what we need to help with the bills.

There might be a large farmhouse or a plantation style house renovated for our purposes. We wont need a living room or dining area because there will be a large hall for gatherings and meals. We will make a large bathroom facility to accommodate everyone, with shower stalls and multiple sinks with baskets for all the personal items to keep things neat and tidy. This may only be temporary for some until we build smaller homes for those who don't want to share the house.

We could find old cheap trailers to use as well. If the roofs are no good we can build a stationary roof for them because it's not like they'll be moving around anymore.

The hall will have a large kitchen and a long table and a fireplace. We'll probably need multiple fridges and freezers for all the food. And an entire room for storage of all the dry goods and cans.

Everyone will do their part. Cooking, cleaning, pruning, harvesting, building, selling at the market. We will work with everyone's strengths and teach people new things.

I haven't figured out how we'll get water and heat to all of the houses yet...

To Be Continued...

My First CJ

For over a year now our scouts have been fundraising for a week long Canadian Jamboree that is held every 4 years in different locations across Canada. This year was held at Camp Nedooea, Nova Scotia. This was an excellent opportunity for our group (many of us anyawy) to visit the east coast of Canada for the first time. We planned a 15 day adventure for our group to visit New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, with 7 of those days at the Jamboree.

As a Rover Advisor, I went to camp as an Offer Of Service and worked with the Transportation team. The Minions went in two separate patrol units of our scout troop. We left on the Monday before the Jamboree and flew into Fredericton, NB. We rented 4 vans for the 26 of us to tour around. The OOS left the group and drove to camp on the Thursday before camp.

I began my work detail on Friday and helped over 2000 scouts and scouters arrive at camp via, plane, train or automobile. On Saturday the remaining 3000 (approx) people arrived at camp. We had many long days and nights trying to get everyone to their subcamp (close to 1000 people in each of the 7 subcamps) as best we could and as safely as possible.

Programming for troops began Sunday afternoon and included many fun things. I saw/heard of archery, mud pit, drones, giant bubble balls, bmx course and many things I can't remember but every kid I saw seemed to be having an adventure. Unfortunately it rained pretty good on the Friday and into Saturday morning so the rest of the week the campsites were pure mud.

On Wednesday of the Jamboree I had my day off and a couple of friends I met at camp and I went to Halifax. We had a nice meal, visited the harbour and boats, and the Citadel. Another long day of walking around on tired feet but lots of fun nonetheless. The time difference is only one hour, but I'll tell you something. When your body clock is used to getting up a certain time, it is very hard to change that, especially when its 5am Ontario time that you're trying to change it to!

I feel as though I now have a new addiction. I want to go to more camps, more jamborees and overall more travelling our beautiful country. I had such an amazing time not only in the maritimes but at camp, I miss all the people I met/spent time with. I miss the great times we had with the people I worked with. I miss the ocean. It calls to me. I can't wait for our next adventure!

I also felt like I came home with new eyes. I just spent 15 days living out of a backpack. I spent 9 of those days sleeping in a tent. I now see all this junk in my home that I just don't need. I want to clean out so much stuff right now it's insane.

Not Winter

I am so very thankful that there is no snow. It's just amazing to be able to go outside - even at night - with no winter jacket. To be able to sit in my chair on my front lawn and watch the clouds or the stars.

I put a couple of hours of work into the axle boot of my car the other day. Only to find out after I had it greased up, the one sold to me was not right, and is now a useless waste of money. Next time its decent out, I hope to finish it. While I did that, The Ole Man worked on a new shed to replace the half-assed dilapidated one, even with a real door! He's been hard at work building that, but for both of us it's still not that nice out. It's certainly not winter, but this spring has been a chilly one. Some really beautiful days out, but mostly still cold.

Today is rain. I got really lucky that it didn't rain on my birthday. That's unusual, but welcomed. It was one of those really nice days yesterday. We went to the Maple Syrup Festival. I had a Beaver Tail. I wish I had another one!

The girls and I have been hard at work making new paracord creations. We now have 10 colours to choose from and a wide variety of bracelets, keychains and ribbon keychains.

I've been thinking a lot about going up to McCrea Lake again. I'm really itching to go. I thing we are going to go up, just the two of us the next weekend that looks nice out. He got me a nesting camp set that I'm just itching to try out! I got a small two burner stove that I have to fiddle with and try to get it to stop leaking fuel. These things will help us pack a lot lighter for just the two of us.

The End.

Dream Log: Little Bit of Crazy

It seemed like a school gymnasium, with a stage set into the wall. I walked around wondering where all the people were. There were only a handful, mostly crowded near the stage and the gym seemed 3/4 empty, for a big band like this.

The smell of sweat and dirt was strong. The thought keeps running through my head, where are all the people? as I take a mental count of maybe 30 people.

Dead center in the room was a tower. It almost seemed like it was taken off a castle and brought in. Or a stage prop for a Romeo and Juliet play. I look up and see only a couple of people up there, so I decide to climb the ladder.

I'm up top, watching as Raine Maida starts in to Starseed, next to a girl perhaps 5 years younger than I. She's enjoying the show as much as I am. Singing along to the second song of the set, when suddenly a man head-buts a pregnant woman near the back of the crowd and she falls to the ground.

There's blood all over, her head is cracked open like Humpty Dumpty, with pieces of her skull on the floor of the gym as if it was an egg. The band plays on while the man that did the butting, grabs the (6 month's pregnant?) woman by the ankle and proceeds to drag her out the doors, leaving a blood-smeared trail behind.

Nobody seems to take notice but me. The girl next to me is still rocking out, the man in the tower with us is just leaning on the edge of the railing watching the band play, seemingly engrossed. I can smell the blood in the air now.

This time I hear the body hit the ground, rather than see it. It's a man this time, much heavier than the pregnant woman, being dragged through the small crowd and across the gym by the ankle, and out the doors.

In horror of what I'm seeing, and seemingly going unnoticed, I turn again to the people in the tower with me. While the girl is still rocking out on her own, the man is now turned his head toward me and is grinning at me.

Like I'm next.

And I wake up, it's 6:30am the day after Daylight Savings time "Spring Forward".
